The Deacon

It is with great anticipation and joy that NADD, The National Association of Diaconate Directors, has taken on the responsibility of publishing The Deacon magazine. For those who don’t know, NADD has been around since 1980. The sole purpose of NADD is to bring together the Diocesan Directors of the Diaconate and Diaconate Formation to share ideas, techniques, and information to better serve deacons across the United States and parts of Canada. One of our ongoing goals has been to find a way to better serve the diaconate community directly. We believe we have accomplished much toward this goal, and now, we get the opportunity to take an entirely new step in supporting the community.

For several months leading up to this first issue being published by NADD, our Executive Team and Board of Directors has shared our ideas, hopes, and, most importantly, our commitment to The Deacon. When OSV announced that they would no longer produce any magazines, we were able to work with them to make sure The Deacon could continue on – building on its storied history to keep bringing helpful, informative articles directly to the diaconate. One of the reasons for its success has been the work of Deacon Dom Cerrato, and we’re pleased to share that Deacon Dom will remain in his role as editor as The Deacon goes forward under NADD. We know that with his passion, and our commitment, more success will follow.

During this upcoming year, you will undoubtedly see some changes to The Deacon magazine, so please don’t hesitate to share your input with us via the NADD or The Deacon websites. For now, pray for us as we will pray for you during this journey of transition.
